REPLACEMENT TASK 2: TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2018 READING CLASS 2I

India Offers English Stepping Stone to East Asian Students

India, not only rich of its culture and tradition, but it is also well known with its English education. This what brings some students from East Asia—Korea, Vietnam, Japan, etc.—to learn English there. Compared to developed countries that have sort of English program for non-native speaker of English such as UK, Australia, Canada, and the US, India’s English program is promising in certain aspects. First and foremost is its reasonable price, learning English in western setting can cost doubled than in India. Second, some English institutes in English speaking countries do not offer English for Second Language (ESL) learners; even the English language teaching is not intensive enough. Even though students feel difficult to live in India: it might be hot, dusty, and dirty, during the study, India is still seen as an emerging economic powerhouse. Furthermore, the students’ aim learning English in India is as a stepping-stone before their study enrolment and job application in countries like UK and the U.S. Another important course to note is teachers treatment, they are care to students just like their own mothers, this makes students comfortable studying in India. After all, although noted with its strong accent, India has successfully provided a promising future for the East Asian students: mastering English.
